Here above the last picture we have of Jemen DH Z - in great shape, at the international show in Valencia, in February with his rider Bertrand Genin!

Then, almost one month after returning from Spain and having tested negative twice for EHV1, the tragedy: Jemen got temperature and we decided to take him to the clinic. There, in less than 24 hours, his condition deteriorated seriously and we had to relieve him ... A huge tragedy for all of us, from both the emotional and the economic point of view !!

It took us a few days to get over this first shock before we've started the paper work, because luckily, we said to ourselves, Jemen had been insured - in the absolutely best possible way !! It was the "best" formula that has been proposed to us by the insurance company following our request to insure mortality by illness or accident as well as veterinary expenses for any illness, accident, lameness or colic!

But here's the second shock: The insurance company tells us that rhinopneumonia is part of the "General Exclusions" of the contract and that we are getting ... nothing at all!

Typical insurances, everybody says !! In deed, on page 20 (of 22) of the General Conditions, far after unlikely cases here such as a war, an insurrection, a revolution, ionizing radiation or modifications of the atomic nucleus, an embargo, a confiscation,. .., figures rhinopneumonia as one of the causes of death that insurance does not cover.

At the end of the day we must unfortunately say that the insurance company, in which we had placed our trust, was not worth it! Instead of being there for a client, when he needs help, she hides behind fine print.

Jemen's insurance turned out to be a huge sad illusion for us!
